Sindri Fertilizer Factory not opened in 1959 ... but in 1951/2 as the largest fertilizer factory in Asia.
Because I remember: I was there as a 7-8 year old, not later than 1952 and remember Jahwrahal Nehru at a coffe table and offering me a piece of cake. Also I heard that he was quite cross with something that was wrong with the setup. I would have to dig out the old photos of the opening and see whether there is a date on them.
The factory was built by a conglomorate of UK, US, CDN and AU companies.
My father was employed by the Indian Government as manager of production because it needed a counterweight to the companies.
After we left, sadly, but to the content of my father, production never attained the output again it had when my father was there.
